Guiding the Next Chapter of Growth in Renewable and Clean Energy Sector

The renewable energy industry is entering a new era where strategic capital allocation and technological innovation define competitive advantage. With clean energy investments crossing $2.2 trillion, they continue to reshape global power markets. But investments and commercialization decisions are increasingly challenged by grid constraints, tightening carbon policies, evolving regulatory frameworks, and emerging IP barriers.
We are helping renewable energy developers, grid operators, utilities, cleantech innovators, and asset managers make well-informed decisions. The actionable insights delivered by our consultants are enabling optimization of investment decisions, risk mitigation, and developing future-ready, resilient renewable energy portfolios.

Core Focus Areas

Helping organizations navigate the next era of renewable energy growth.

Solar

As the cumulative installed capacity of solar PV exceeds the 2 TW milestone, growth now outpaces interconnection constraints and grid absorption capacities. The curtailment risks are rapidly becoming critical investment considerations. We support clients in evaluating storage integration, navigating grid constraints, optimizing portfolios, and strengthening long-term asset performance.

Wind

The global wind installed capacity exceeds 1,200 GW; projects face growing pressures ranging from supply chain disruptions to cost inflation and permitting delays. Stellarix is helping companies strengthen supply chain resilience, evaluate localization opportunities, and align investments with evolving market dynamics and policies.

Hydro

Despite supplying one-sixth of global power, hydro power projects are challenged by climate variability, rising flexibility requirements, and aging infrastructure. We are supporting companies to examine pumped-storage opportunities, asset modernization strategies, maximize long-term portfolio value, and build climate resilience.

Geothermal

The commercial potential of geothermal energy is moving beyond conventional resource locations due to advancements in drilling technologies. Integration of next-generation technologies could reduce costs by nearly 80% by 2035. We are helping organizations in identifying capability transfer opportunities, developing commercialization strategies, and evaluating EGS economics.

Intermittency with Advanced Grid Curtailment Management

Wind and solar capacities are outgrowing the grids that were meant to absorb them. Over 3000 GW of storage and renewable capacity is sitting in grid connection queues globally, with 50% of them awaiting interconnection in advanced stages. Generation is no longer the bottleneck; it is the queue, wire, and forecast precision behind load balancing.

Utility-scale offshore, solar, wind, and geothermal projects are stalling under overlapping international, national, and local frameworks. With the EU attempting to compress timelines, enforcement remains uneven across member states. The challenge is further complicated by land-use conflict, marine spatial planning, and longer agricultural footprints delaying pre-construction phases.

Global supply chains for polysilicon, rare-earth magnets, and turbine blades remain highly volatile. China accounts for more than 80% of global PV manufacturing capabilities, 60% of mined rare-earth supply, and 90% of global refining and processing. It implies that the logistics for polysilicon, specialty, and turbine magnets all inherit single-source risk. A small export control or tariff action could change the course of an entire project pipeline.

Deep geothermal exploration carries two major challenges: front-loaded costs and subsurface uncertainties. Drilling alone absorbs 50% of project costs. If costs fall by 80%, next-gen geothermal could compete broadly with its other renewable counterparts and contribute a significant share to meeting rising electricity demand by 2050. The challenge is not resource availability, but de-risking capital before first flow.

A large part of installed early wind and hydro capacity is reaching the end of its design life. Over 60% of the operational hydro fleet in advanced countries is decades old and in dire need of modernization. Similarly, first-generation onshore wind assets are again entering repowering windows in Europe. Delay in modernization erodes both asset and output value year after year.

Most standard technologies underperform in situations where most of the remaining resources sit. Single-junction silicon cells reach a performance threshold at 27% of their commercial deployment. However, in labs, their certified efficiencies now exceed 33%. The gap between lab and field needs to be bridged to turn marginal sites into reliable assets.
