Core Focus Areas

Delivering strategic intelligence across every critical layer of the semiconductor ecosystem.

Advanced Logic, Compute & AI Semiconductors

AI is driving the shift to sub-3nm and sub-2nm nodes, but the economics of leading-edge manufacturing are becoming increasingly concentrated. We enable companies to identify where chiplet architectures and application-specific designs can deliver competitive differentiation without the cost of pursuing the most advanced process technologies.

Memory & Storage Technologies

Demand across memory technologies, including HBM and NAND, is being fueled by AI, while consumer markets continue to influence growth. We enable companies to analyze technology roadmaps, strengthen supply strategies and positioning, and identify growth opportunities across evolving memory segments.

Analog, Mixed-Signal & Power Semiconductors

Analog and power semiconductors are becoming critical enablers of electrification, industrial automation, and advanced mobility. Stellarix helps companies evaluate innovations in SiC, GaN, and power management technologies to strengthen their product portfolios and improve commercial outcomes.

Semiconductor Manufacturing & Advanced Packaging

Manufacturing decisions have become more complex and capital-intensive as performance gains increasingly rely on advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration. We support strategic choices around foundry partnerships, packaging roadmaps, and capacity planning to improve resilience and execution.

Semiconductor Materials & Equipment

The availability of critical materials and manufacturing equipment is increasingly influencing production capacity and technology adoption. We evaluate supply chain constraints, sourcing strategies, and investment priorities to help organizations reduce risk while preparing for future manufacturing requirements.

Sensors, RF & Connectivity Semiconductors

Rapid advances in sensing, RF technologies, and wireless connectivity are reshaping applications across automotive, industrial, healthcare, and consumer markets. Our semiconductor strategy consulting examines emerging technologies, evolving RF architectures, and connectivity trends to identify opportunities aligned with future market demand.

Strategic Hurdles in the Semiconductor Industry

Industry pressures that are actively disrupting semiconductor strategies and supply chains.

CoWoS Packaging Bottleneck Constraining AI Hardware Deployment

Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate (CoWoS) has become the backbone of AI accelerator packaging, but capacity remains severely constrained. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has seen demand for advanced packaging surge, with AI customers accounting for over 20% of total wafer-equivalent capacity. Lead times exceeding 12 months are delaying product launches and impacting revenue realization.

Investment continues to favor sub-3nm manufacturing technologies, while mature process nodes receive far less attention. Yet 28nm to 180nm nodes account for over 50% of global semiconductor unit shipments and remain essential for automotive and industrial electronics. This imbalance is creating persistent supply risks for industries that rely on mature-node manufacturing.

Manufacturing below the 2nm node is pushing inspection technologies to their limits. New transistor designs, including Gate-All-Around (GAA) architectures and backside power delivery, require inspection capabilities that many existing production tools cannot fully support. The result is greater pressure on yield improvement and manufacturing costs.

High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) has become one of the biggest supply constraints in AI systems. SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron, the world’s only HBM manufacturers, are operating near full allocation, with AI applications consuming an estimated 60–70% of total HBM output. Companies without secured supply agreements face increasing risks to product launches, with shortages expected to continue for several years.

Export controls have become a major factor shaping semiconductor supply chains. U.S. restrictions on advanced chip manufacturing equipment, combined with China’s controls on gallium and germanium, affect materials used in more than 30% of compound semiconductor applications. Businesses must strengthen sourcing strategies and prepare for increasing compliance requirements.

Helium is essential for semiconductor fabrication and has no practical substitute in many manufacturing processes. The US, Qatar, and Russia account for more than 75% of global helium production, making supply highly concentrated. Recent disruptions have driven significant price volatility, exposing a critical but often overlooked operational risk for chip manufacturers.
